Focal Utopia 165 in a TL?

I am wondering if the Focal Utopia 6.5" will fit in the stock speaker location on a TL-S. Will cutting be needed, or will a spacer work just fine?

thanks.

the focals are serious speakers, i think they are great speakers, i just think that $600 for a component set is a bit much. you are going to have to cut i believe, i dont have a TL, but on my accord i had to fabricate an O ring for my XR650s. I belive the magnet size on my XR650CSi is about 88mm, the Focal 165w is 100mm.

thanks for your reply stylin'.... I've gotta be certain no cutting is needed.. I'm going to do this install myself and don't want to have to come into any serious complications.

just about any worth while door speakers will require cutting. if your that worried, let a shop do it. your spending tons of money on the equipment for sound. might need to spend some on install.

i think you can get the Polyglass in a slim? 165v slim? like i said in my prior post, i honestly dont think the focals are worth the $$ (i'm a starving college student ) but this is just my opinion, the Utopias and actually every focal speaker is bad ass, i just cant justify spending $500 on a damn set of components.

Also I have to disagree with StylinAccord... My Focals were worth every penny. I only paid $450 for my Polykevlar K2's from an authorized dealer.

dont get me wrong, i think they are great speakers, but the JL XR650 components are also good speakers, and they are about 1/2 the price.

I have 165k2 in the front and 165k in the rear...It really sounds great with JL amp. But I did some cutting with custom spacers to make the speaker fit..

Not many speakers come close to the quality sound a Focal speaker puts out. They are extremely high end awesome speakers, any audio professional will tell you that.

I've got the Polykevlar 165K2's in my front doors and the 136K in the rear doors...there was no cutting involved in fitting te 6 1/2 in in the front doors, all you need is a spacer ring.

One thing to note is that there isn't much sound difference btw the Polykevlar series and the Utopia series. The only sound difference is the tweeters. The Utopias use a better designed tweeter allowing to sound cleaner which I didn't think was possible. Other than that the only difference btw them is what the cone is constructed of.

I don't think you paid too much for the rear. You're runnning a
6 1/2 inch mid range woofer...are they the plain 165K or the 165K2? I know that the component set 165K2 run in the neighborhood of $500-600.
