Bilstein makes shocks for the TL's but most people think they are too expensive. Good stuff however.

Tokico HP blues are like $200 a set and Illuminas adjustables are like $400 a set. A lot of shops or online stores carries them or you can try www.shox.com. I bought some Bilsteins for my 4 Runner once and they are reasonable.

Expensive is an understatement Mike! Who's gonna dish out that much money just for shocks!?! You gotta be rich to afford those babies!

i thought they are around 150 each? so 600 in total for a set of 4? at least that's the price for those that are used in the gs400.

i don't know if they are adjustable though

and btw, if you want the best, still coilover is the way to go. and come to think about it. you spend 300 bucks on springs, then 500 bucks on shocks (say 125 each). then you pay around 100 to at most 200 bucks for installation. that's a grand total of 1 grand. with coilovers like tein being around the same price range, why not get coilover?

my ONLY reason for going with springs was that i didn't have money for coilover at that time, plus since the stock shocks are pretty stiff already, i decided to let them wear out before getting better ones

I don't think Bilstein has shocks for the TL; at least that's the info I got from shox.com. I used to have Tokico illumina, they are adjustables with 5 settings. You need to adjust them under the hood and in the trunk. I like them and they carried a life time warranty. I never tried Koni's, so I have no comment on them.

i like the ride so much w/HandR and stock shocks, that i might buy some new stock shocks after they wear...would this be weird or would I get a better effect if I buy koni or tokico...Shyne

I made a mistake when saying above that Bilstein shocks were expensive - I was thinking about Bilstein coilovers. Bilstein coilovers cost US $2,320 for a set (from ValueTL).

If you don't like your stock shocks, and you want the comfy feeling, then your only choice will be coilovers. It's time to break open your piggy bank!

Shyne, the only better effect you'll get if you replace your stock shocks will be less rebound when you go over bumps, and of course better control. You gotta decide for yourself if you wanna spend the $ now or later for the better effect. Me, I'm a cheapie, so I'll get mine replaced when my shocks are blown. And that's OK too!

Your only option is to get the Tein coilovers and set the shock setting to the softest setting.
