I need advice regarding Tint (price, type)

Wassup (what's up for those who get offended by bad grammar) everyone?

I have an ABP TLS and was going to get my windows tinted within the next few weeks. I was quoted $250 for a Silver platinum tint here in MA from a highly recommended shop (Tint King in Billerica). Sounds about right but wanted to know if you guys thought that was too high.

Also hoping some of you guys could post some pictures and details about what kind of tint you have. I did a search and found a few, such as Hyde's beautiful TLS among others, but was hoping to get a few more pics. I plan on getting 35% all around. Thanks in advance.

PS - I did a search and found some threads w/pics but not that many. Any addtional help would be much appreciated!

I paid $255 for LLumar 35% all around here in NY. It was a perfect job from a shop i have used consistently for 15 years.

In SoCal I paid $289 for 38% Llumar Pure Titanium tint w/vinyl visor to cover the dot matrix at the top of the rear window. I had this done 2 weeks ago. I has a nice light reflective tone to it. Sorry I haven't snap'd any shots yet.

ferrizo -

careful in Mass with silver/mirror tint. My buddy had it on his car and every town he went in he was pulled over for it. He never got a ticket, but the hassle was bad enough

ronin why don't you tint high in the back and very light in the two front? I think california law let you tint the front if the cop can see you through.

well the law allows 75% in the front i believe.

however i just think it looks better if the tint is the same all around. it looks better, that's all but getting 75% all around is even more stupid

since i got body kits, etc.. already, my car is very attractive, so if i also put on tint, umm.....

Dazz,

Thanks for the advice. I'll see.

I agree with rominl that a tint looks better if its the same all around (minus the winshield of course). I am going to stick to 35% only because its the legal limit here in MA. I would prefer 30% but I don't need to attract more attention than I already do!

Thanks guys!

cool man. I know I had illegal tint on my Cavalier, and I got nailed with a $250 fine (this was like 7 years ago...damn, I'm getting old). Anyways, stick with 35%.

Also, when they put on the tint, make sure they don't put on 35% tint. All windows come tinted, you just can't really tell. If you put on 35% tint, you will fall below that (approx. 31%), and you can get a ticket. Just make sure who ever does it for you gives you a receipt, and you should be all set.
