|tireguru21||make sure your tires are properly inflated, underinflated tires reduce your fuel efficiency and cost you at the pump|

|Rower4VT||I usually getting 22-24 mpg at 65-70 on hwy trips, and 17-18 around town. This is on a '97 with 180k miles, and it a very good state of tune. One thing I noticed that helps is increasing the tire pressure. I will put it up to 38-40 psi and the mileage will increase ~5-10%. The trade-off is feeling every bump in the road. Now not all tires are rated for pressures that high, so do not exceed the max pressure on the sidewall. Also, check my following post on fixing a "rough idle", this has made my RL run much smoother and likely increased mileage a bit. Good luck!|

|phins2rt||I have a 99 with 99K miles. I get about 18-19 city/25-27 highway. My 01 RL with 107K miles was about the same.|

|ZRXXX||I got a 2000 with about 190K, I get about 17 city, 22-23 highway (pure highway 65-75mph only) Mileage sucks to be honest but it is what it is|

Try some new low rolling resistance tires, like the Bridgestone Ecopia EP422.
Supposed to get you 4-5% better mileage. Every bit helps.

|sherman_nguyen||I got average for about 24-25 for highway cruising at 65-70mph. I had a full tank of gas about 12 gallons and i always got an average of 250 miles. My Rl is 99 and has 155000 on it.|

|Japam||I'd say that's pretty average man. I drive mostly on the freeway and I average 21-22mpg.|

Is 18 MPG all a 99 RL will get?
We filled up my 99 RL and drove it all week. Mainly interstate, but some back roads, and in town some. Averaged 18MPG. Is this normal? I would think it would do better. Car has 215,000 miles. Runs on 18" wheels, and the drivetrain/engine/exhaust is all stock. Only mods are the HEAVY steel crome Donzi wheels&tires. I know the V-6 Accords get close to 30 MPG. This car was last tuned up at 160K. It does have a check engine light that is for a bad cat. The guy I bought it from bought a 2001 RL with 78K on it, and he says it gets the same MPG. Anyone have any commints?
