Yeah pop off the gear plate with something thin like a pocket knife and then let it sit in Jasco Paint remover for 10 mins. Will this work on a 96 RL?

Villaininblack Awesome DIY, this is a must for every Rl owner. I used Jasco paint remover, purchased at Home Depot for $8, and let it sit for 10 minutes, WIPED off remaining paint and rinsed with water... instant chrome!!! Thanks again for the write-up!

Well Louie, Louie,

I believe unless im dyslexic(spelling), they said to use the Stripper, not thinner.

you said you used thinner? I'd try it again with a stripper and make sure she puts out!

Me and my friend used a towel and rubbed at the piece for an hour and nothing happened. Then i just let it sit in the paint remover for 2 days and then tried it again, still didnt work. I know there must be chrome underneath because on the side a little piece of paint is gone and i see chrome. The problem is that i cant get the part that actually shows to come off. anyone have any ideas?
