jinny don't do it... it might rub.

when going to a 225, go with a 55 series tire

225/55/16 will fit without complications

wider tires on 2000 3.5 RL

Dear all.

I just bought an Acura RL from a friend this week.

The manuafacturer oringial tire size on this card is 215/60/16 with a V speed rating.

I would like to replace all 4 tires (it is time to replace tires anyway) with 225/60/16 with an H speed rating.

Costco Tire center staff would do it even if they do not recommend, saying it will feel very different with the slightly bigger/wider tires.

Anyone of you have tried this 225/60/16 size on a 2000 RL before? Have any comments?
I love to hear from you before I do anything.

Thank you all in advance!

a new member.

1997rl Strongly suggest 96 and 97 3.5RL owners to check, and RE-check if their Lower Ball Joint TSB has been done. This is what happened to me today.

When i bought the car used, i paid for all the mechanical inspections, dealership history records, and carfax reports. All turned out good. The carfax said there were no recalls on my particular vehicle (which is not true having just read the posted TSB saying ALL 97 models are affected). I was driving straight when the suspension collapsed, and fortunately no one got hurt. It could have been a lot worse.

Jinny, your information has been so helpful. I found a quote that you had made, that said you posted pictures of how to remove the door panel and replace the regulator.

This is the next quote I found. I can't find these pictures anywhere. I need to replace the regulator on my rear passanger window. I replaced the rear driver window but it cost me $500 to have someone else do it. I ordered the parts and was going to do it myself when I found your posting, but I can't find it. Any help would be appriciated.

Thanks, Tabetha

the code is sorta unique to your radio... meaning it is not the same for all the radios... there should be a card with the code probably in your manual... if the code card was lost... you can use the serial number on the back of the radio to request the code from an Acura dealer... try a search of acuraworld... it should yield a ton of info, including a technique to get the radio serial number without having to completely disassemble the dash.

Looking for Head Unit reset code

Hello fellow Acura owners, While in the process of searching for the cause of smoke rolling out of the dash of my 96 RL(which killed the speedometer & Odometer) I lsost power to the Radio Head Unit. I need the reset code.

Thanks, acguru

Update on speedometer problem. My "96" RL at the local Acura dealership with a replaced speed sensor but still no speed indication. Dealer says I need the Speedometer and Odometer circuit board head units(for only$1200.00) Are there any other options besides the salvage yard for reasonable parts.

Thanks,acguru

Goodwill repairs

Its hard to fathom Acura's thinking. This is the company that introduced the premium Japanese automobile to North America and was spectacularly successful with it, then fumbled the ball so badly Johnny-come-lately Lexus ate its lunch, breakfast and dinner. Today it tries to sell its excellent cars for roughly the same price as competing Lexus products notwithstanding Acura has substantially shorter warranties and dealers are stingy with goodwill repairs. November/05 RL sales were down a whopping 35.8% over the previous year. Hmmmm.....

robert You can try the better business bureau

khiyal Most NY dealers contacted say that TSBs are honored for a goodwill consideration only within 24 months of issue date. Beyond that, no one would do it.

jinny goodwill fixes are tough to finagle...

I have not seen it done, unless it was a cheap fix and/or it was included as part of other expensive services.

regarding labor charge, the dealer will always charge for it if possible, especially if the customer buys the parts from somewhere else and brings 'em in to install.
