I have a 2008 RL and want to upgrade the headlamps to provide better road illumination. Is that possible? If so, what would be the recommended upgrade?
The work is very stressful, gives you a lot of pressure and I have found an interesting, entertaining thing that you can feel. Try these amazing shell shockers that will have lots of fun and great feelings waiting for you!
I switched out the HID bulbs in my 08 RDX and 11 MDX to OSRAM D2S XENARC 66240 CBI Cool Blue 5500k-6000k range +5 years ago. Those bulbs were a worth the price for added range and visibility over OEM.
OEM bulbs are closer to the 4300k range; which, leans more towards yellow or early morning/late evening warm light. The OSRAMs in the higher 5500k-6000k range looks more like pure white light behind the wheel like you would see at high noon in the summer. A noticeable improvement over OEM for both vehicles.
I had enough room in my 11 MDX to exchange the bulbs from the engine bay in about 20-30 minutes. I needed to remove my front bumper on my 08 RDX because of the tight space behind the HIDs (needed to unscrew the HID housing to have room to exchange the bulbs). It was just a few screws in the the wheel well and plastic clips for a 30-45 min job total for the RDX. You might have to check with YouTube for the RL to see if you need to remove the bumper or not.
Average price for OSRAMs are around $110-$130 depending on where you purchase. Anything cheaper might be knock-offs or fakes. I would look on "The Retrofit Source" website under your make/model for HID prices.
