I bought this car a couple days ago. Before i bought it the guy was driving me around in it and he said the 2nd gear grinds if your dont shift into it fast. I thought myself how to drive stick on this car and i cant get into second gear every time i try i hear a bad grinding noise so i just go straight to third. But as soon as my dad drives it he can get into perfectly. I was wondering if the problem was the short shifter that the previous owner had installed.
Skill and technique comes with age. LOL. Did your dad ever drive manual transmission cars before the advent of the synchronizer? If yes, that may be why.
A short shifter may cause 2nd gear grind (not unheard of, depending on the shifter).
You shouldnt of bought that car knowing it has tranny issues. ....and it doesnt make sense for the guy to say it grinds if you shift slow. Because bad syncros cause gear grind when shifting fast.
