Ok I have an 1996 RL that is having problems starting. I tried resetting the alarm buy using the key. Checked all fuses and the battery. Battery is strong. Turn the key no dash lights or windows wont open or close. Doesn't crank at all. Makes not a sound. Headlights work. Couldn't get it going. Had it towed to mechanic after a day all they can come up with is that there is a drop in voltage.

Any ideas it started just fine the night before than nothing the next morning.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Did you check the terminals on the battery? Especially the positive terminal, which feeds the starter. Mine was corroded and loose and this was causing problems like yours. I cleaned them up and tightened the connectors (needed shims) and haven't had the problem since.

My 98 had similar problems, and one day it quit and wouldn't restart. The problem was the main relay. Battery terminals would be first choice.

There can be all kinds of reasons for failing to start. Have you checked the fuel line? I learned it from a neighbor (who is a mechanic) to disconnect the fuel line in and out (not at the same time!) the oil filter. If, when trying to start the car, fuel comes out from the line that leads IN the filter, then the fuel pump and all the line before that are fine. If no gas comes out of the filter (when you disconnect the OUT line), then your filter is clogged.
