I bought this car a year ago for $5000. Very good condition, ran great until the other day. 4th seems to be gone. Took it to shop and was told it needs a transmission. Does anyone know of any other issue that it could be. Don’t really want to put $3500 into it for a transmission. Thanks for the help.

Needs a new transmission is not a Honda code. You need more info.a single gear lost can be as simple as a bad pressure switch. There should be a code(s) which will give you a better idea of what is going on.
It is quite possible the previous owner beat the he'll out of the car and didn't service it. Dumped the car as he knew the tranny was failing.
$5K seems cheap for this car, maybe you paid what it was worth?
