Hi there,

I noticed that the new RDX has a better fuel efficiency compared to the old RDX although they have a bigger engine. I really like the new RDX but also worry about the gas since the gas price keeps going up higher and higher.

Does anyone know how many km can I drive in a full tank of gas? I am currently looking at the TSX & RDX right now. Does TSX has a much better fuel economy compared to RDX or just a little bit?

Thanks,

RDX vrs TSX gas mileage

We are starting to live this experiment. Just picked up a 13 RDX (fwd) and have a 08 TSX.

I am very impressed with the new RDX's fuel usage compared to the 03 MDX it replaced. We are routinely getting low 30's on the interstate. We have not had it long enough to know it really shakes out in mixed driving.

The Variable Cylinder Management seems to do its job seamlessly. The RDX cruises at 70 @ 2k rpm. The TSX at 70 runs at 2.5k rpm.

To compare the two in the end, I would guess that the TSX will be a bit better on fuel but not that much. It is a lighter vehicle and with a 2.4 four it is just hard to see it using more than the RDX v6.

Hi! I was wondering how the experiment was going? Thanks!

Just returned from our first long family vacation trip and the RDX did great. We did about 2700 miles over 10 days.

Loaded up, with two bikes on the back, we got 26-28 MPG on interstates at 70 to 75 most of the time.

In the middle of our vacation, I took a 240 mile trip (one way) unloaded without bikes and got 31 one way and over 29 coming back.

We are very happy with our purchase.

My TSX still averages about 2+mpg better than the RDX overall in mixed driving.

Keep in mind that the fuel tank capacity on the 2013 RDX is a rediculous 16 gallons, two gallons less than the 2012 model.

I get about 13-14 MPG too. Local & highway mixed (60% local, 40% hwy). Got the 2013 RDX Tech package AWD in May. Haven't tried the cruise yet so I don't know if it will improve or not. but definitely will go back to the dealer if the MPG don't improve after 1k miles. SO UPSET about the fuel economy.
I get 13-14 Miles in the city which is unusual. I notice that if I use the cruise it improves greatly, but I cannot drive withcruise in the city all the time.

Does anyone experience such a bad fuel economy?
