you can do 20's just do them right. when i say right I mean proper offset and proper tire fitment. i would also look at lowering the RL a little bit just to get rid of the 4x4 look.

the RL is a big car and 18's dont look all that big on it.

when i get some rims...im goin 20" nothing less.

(The proceeding is just my opinion and not an attack on any individual. Don't get all butt-hurt about it, just listen to another perspective and consider it.)

It's not that you can't do it...you just shouldn't do it.

RLs are elegant, upper-class cars. They shouldn't have things like giant wheels, drop springs, or anything else a punk, ricer or pimp would have on their cars. Let the understated elegance of the RL speak for you, not some "blingy" junk. One may think that stuff makes the car "stand out" or be "unique", and it does, but not in a way you might desire. Rather, it's in a way that will make others look at your car and just shake their heads in disgust, wondering, "Why would someone ruin a beautiful car like that?" Also, big wheels aren't unique anymore. They're played-out, formulaic junk that is not only ugly, but adversely affects the performance of the car.

Spend your money on keeping your RL clean and operating at top levels, not some unecessary junk like big wheels.

It's your ride, so do your thing. But don't think everyone's going to love it.

To the OP...

It's not if you can't do it and it's not if you shouldn't do it. It's if you can do it (and you want to), then you should.

The car won't be any worse off on 20"s than it is on stock 16"s, if the wheel/tire combo is fitted properly.

Post some pics when you get it done.

I'm going to begin to save up for some 19"/20" MRR HR3's for my '04.

(Remember, this is only my opinion.)

Great, more ghettofied RLs. Oh well, at least there are some purists who'll preserve the perfection of the RL, understand the vulgarity and idiocy associated with big wheels, and continue to reject other trendy crap that comes along.

(Remember, that was only my opinion.)

To each his own, but I think that car looks like dirty ass. I see cars with wheels like that parked at the government housing projects I drive by all the time. People can be destitute, but "Day gots ta have dem big, shiny wheels, yo!"

I'm constantly astounded at how misguided some people are.

I have some concerns about caliper/brake clearance, so if you can double check with the vendor that they'll fit, I would. I don't know about your model, but my car has ~380mm front rotors and that's a lot of brake to clear for rims of any size...including 'dem shiny wheels yo.

Make sure to post up pics too bro, I'd love to see it!

he made it sound like anyone putting rims on a car falls under that sterotype...

im not one to wear baggy clothes and all this, i just picked up this car cheap and wanted to dress it up a bit. mostly for the line of work i am in...
and hes talking about uneducated etc,

Im a new real estate agent, only 22 years old, but to me having a nice car has helped with my business, people look at me different, especially since i am young and in that type of work, competing against guys who are 60, almost 3x my age. I picked up a client today and first thing they said was , "wow is this a nice car, and how do you afford wheels like that? business must be good" lol
