in theroy which one is faster? they look about equal in performance since they are both about equal has anyone raced friends or even messed around on express way.by the way this is stock for stock nothing else i personally think the legend would win but the maxima is a couple of hundred pounds lighter according to kbb.

94 acura legend ls coupe
hp 230 @ 6200 RPM
torque 206 @ 5000 RPM
curb weight 3583 lbs.

97 nissan maxima
hp 190 @ 5600 RPM
torque 205 @ 4000 RPM
curb weight 3097 lbs.

i figured this might be somthing to talk about that might of not been mentioned before any thoughts discuss away and got all info from kbb

I raced three maxima's before both 95 -97 model and a 2001
1. with cat-back exhaust and cold air intake auto he got :0wned: (three runs he was like :wtf: )
2. with cold air intake and exhaust 5spd he got :0wned: (both drag and top end) ...
3. we started at 45+ mph .. he blast off but I got him on the top end he was also like :wtf:(I have no chance with this car on the low end though)
oh I have a 5spd with a custom cold air intake (I made it).
You owned a 5 gen max? Beleivable(sp) But there is no way you would take a 5.5 gen max, no matter what you got under your hood, unless its dv8's car or something.
what is a 5.5 gen max? if you are talking the about the third car 2001 max .. I took him on the top end afterward we talk about it because both of us was wondering how was that possible... I hold out the fourth gear all the way .. well believe what you want but it happened.

the 00-01 maximas are 5th gen, on 220 hp- weak

the 02-03 maximas are the 5.5 gen because they got a 35 hp boost so they were 255 HP, and some extra torque. So yes u beating that 01 is beleivable.

there is no way you can get a 02-03 I promise, unless your going on a long circuit race that involves HIGH speeds like over 120 cause hes governed and ur not.
Well I clearly stated 01 not 02 please read :nutkick:
I had a 99 max, and a friend of mine has a 92 4dr LS. The Maxima has a burst of speed in pretty much every gear but dies out along the way. 0-60 I always had him but I always thought twice before messing with him on the pkwy. The top end is pretty serious on the Legend but then again thats how most Honda engines work.
0-60 = Maxima
Anything else = Legend
Well i own a 96 se auto right now with intake/ypipe and will say that if they were both sticks and stock, it would be close (assuming with equal drivers) Both mid to low 15 second cars. I've raced my friend in his 94GS auto (intake) on the highway and from 50+ i killed him from the get go because thats a good part of second gear. I told him my bottom of third is a DOG so maybe we should do it from there. So from 70+ he started to pull for about 3 seconds and then mine pulled back HARD. By 110 i had maybe 4 cars on him.
from what i've observed from everybody's input, it seems that there is a general agreement that off the line the max will "spaz" out quicker but once it comes back down to earth lol, the LEGEND is there to rip its butthole out of place and from existence period....ouch

let's also keep in mind that all comparison should be mod-for-mod, or bone stock!...and lets also keep the condition of the cars in view...
I have raced several maximas. Type I modded vs max modded. Both had intake, exhaust, chip. We were dead even up over 90. I think he was a 5 speed, im an auto. good race.

I think a stock 5 speed max would be a touch faster in a 1/4 than a type II, becuase i think the max would get him off the line. Any mods, and good vs bad drivers etc, will swing it. In reality, its a drivers race.
