Hi. I have an 97 Acura. The alarm keeps going off randomly. I've been taking out the fuse when I'm not driving it. Now the alarm is suddenly going off when I put the fuse back in. It drives great otherwise. Does anyone have a schematic showing where the alarm sensors are in the Acura? I'm thinking if I know where they are I can check the contacts to see if any of them are dirty or out of alignment. I don't have the money to have Acura do a system test so it's a do-it-yourself sort of affair. Thanks:wavey:

PS: I don't have the automatic key - only the metal one to use on the doors

Give this a try. If you're handy around a multimeter, you should be able to diagnose and repair the problem.

Good luck!

Wow, Tim, thanks. I think this is a bit beyond me however. I am going to print it and keep it with my stuff in my Acura folder. Maybe you can tell me what might make the sensor go off? It went along fine for a couple of weeks without making a sound and then I wiped off some of the maple tree leavings that had worked their way under the windshield edge of the hood and the back windshield edge of the trunk and then suddenly it started going off again. It goes off even if no one is near the car. Are the security sensors something I would recognize if I knew what to look for on the door, trunk, etc? Would breaking down and getting a remote opener for this model solve the problem? Thanks

My guess is that you've got an intermittent ground fault in one of the door lock actuators. If you want to disable it temporarily, unplug the connector on the hood latch, which relates to the alarm. The system won't arm if it thinks that the hood is open.

alarm

The only thing I can tell you is rather than pay a fortune to have the alarm fixed my mechanic showed me how to pull the fuse when the car was parked to keep it from waking up the neighbourhood. I did this for quite a while and then had a problem under the car that had to be fixed and when that was done the alarm hasn't gone off since. You will probably need to take it to an Acura dealer to have them put it on the machine to see why this is happening. Try changing the fuse first if you haven't done so already.

alarm

my alarm kept going off around two months ago....im talking randomly at 3 am and then id go shut it off and then five mins later the same damn thing happened!!!!
brought it to my mechanic and he had no clue and couldnt figure it out....i was getting sooooo annoyed and knew that if i brought it to acura i could kiss my paycheck goodbye!!
i came home and i popped my hood and looked at the two fuse boxes in the upper left area under the hood.... i unplaugged my battery and pulled out one that was listed security door lock and gave it the old nintendo cartridge blowdown aka blew into the bottom and them blew into the area where the fuse was plugged in and plugged it back in along with the battery terminals shortly after....have had no issues since....hopefully that works for you...GOOD LUCK!
