I'm going to Miami, so I thought I'd keep track of my mileage and report it. I'll just report the highway portion. I'm looking to get a record here!

I just changed the oil in my car (from Mobile-1 to Amsoil), and I'm going to let you guys know what my mileage is. Unfortunately, the only other data I have was 26.5 mpg on Mobile-1 prior to my tranny failure (Orlando -> rural GA running 32 psi in the tires - WOT on occasion).

Here's the specs I'm using for my trip:

Gas: Exxon 93 octane
Oil: Amsoil 5w-30
Filter: Mobil-1 M1-104
Tire PSI: 34 (cold)
Air filter: K&N filter w/about 10000 miles on it
Total miles: 11,125 as of this oil change

I'm going to try to use cruise as often as possible. I'm hoping for 30+ mpg.

good luck, if you are not in a hurry cruise control at 55mph. You will get >30mpg. Every 1 mile above, you will loose about 1% in mileage

thats not true - thats true in cases of old cars with 3 speed automatics and poor running engines of the 70's --

I averaged 70-85MPH on my trip up from Alabama (to NY)
and got 29-31MPG

Well, the results are in. I averaged 28 MPG with the following in my car:

Me, my boss, and about 250-300 pounds of computer equipment. The drive was 80% highway and 20% city.

On the way back, I decided to give the ole' car a run. I hit 120 on an open stretch of I-95. The car seems to start to float at that speed - like most cars do. SCARY! I slowed down immediately, but I must say I love 3rd gear! 3rd topped out at 105.

4th... on the other hand - the gas pump loves that gear!

Wahooo!!!! I love this car!

well it depends on the road conditon. if it's high wind then it could be really bad. and your car is still stock right? that's a problem too. my car is dropped and it's no problem at 120 at all. i could still feel the road

Yeah - there was a moderate cross wind. My car is still stock, but I love it just the same.

I didn't do too badly with highway mileage with my K & N filter. On my cross-country trip to Denver from Cleveland last month, I cruised at 80+ miles per hour and got about 28-29 mpg. I think you're right, if I'd done 55 mph I would've had over 30 mpg.
