Any way to change battery without code?

Hi - My 96 2.5TL is in need of a battery now that the temps are in the teens in Chicago. My car didn't come with the manual ... the Acura dealership had promised one, but I never got one. Looking through the usual spots didn't turn up the code. Is there any way to change it without needing the code?

Thanks,
Kevin

I've seen some kits that'll do this - in a round about way. They are sold at Autozone...basically you have your "new" battery chillin on the ground and take cables (careful with polarity!) and attach to battery cables still connected to "old" battery. CAREFULLY remove terminals from "old" battery, making sure to not let the + hit ground cable/body. Then just lift swap batteries and you're good to go. The kit has some "special" fittings in it to help you with the final step, and most likely you'll want a friend around to help with this so you don't get zapped....

I've done battery swaps with a battery trickle charger connected to the leads... it holds the memory while you swap out the battery.

be careful tho... it's not the safest thing to do... everything is still on and if you have any build up of gasses, you could be in some trouble...

I kept everything well ventilated... and didn't have a problem... but I probably still wouldn't recommend it. If you really don't have a convenient way to reenter the code, I might consider doing that... very carefully.

good luck.
