Transmissions are *very* problematic on the 2nd gen TL, less so though in the 99 model year because it's a 4 speed automatic, as opposed to the 5 speed auto used in 2000 and up....but enough that you'll want to make sure the car shifts flawlessly.

My advice would be to only buy the car if it's had a regular maintenance regime, including transmission services...using ONLY Acura ATF-DW1.....otherwise you could be looking at an expensive repair bill in the future.

Bear in mind also that at every 105K interval, a timing belt service needs to be done. Check with the owner to see if it's been performed. If not, that's a service that can run $800 and up if you have it done or $350 or so to do it yourself.

thanks for the reply.

Car only has 97,000km (just under 60K miles) Green wit tan interior.

Drove very well and looks great. However the timing belt has never been changed........

Add in the fact that Id have to add a blu-tooth head unti and winter wheels....oh and the drivers seat had a huge rip in it....

add that all up and it's too much for a 17 year old car.

I liked the old school honda feel to it. Great visibility, very solid car.
