Hello all. Got an intermittent problem where blower motor and radio simultaneously stop working. Had a quick look in Haynes manual wiring diagrams for clue as to where to look in the car for possible common "bad" ground location as cause for problem, but no luck.

Anyone with any thoughts as to where I might look or if I'm on the right track.

Blower motor? Are you talking about your a/c condensor? So do they both go on and off intermittently?

Blower motor.....for climate control. Motor for pushing heat/cool through ducting. If radio doesn't work, then it's a sure thing that the blower motor isn't either. Problem always occurs simultaneaously, never independently from one another.

When does it go off, is there a certain condition that makes it go off, i.e. bump or turning?

The ground for everything is on the passanger side floorboard wall, the small piece directly below the dash on the right hand side. you remove that panel and you'll see a bunch of wires bolted to the matel part of the car.. (you'll see what i'm talking about when u remove it). It could be a ground issue but then other devices should stop working as well.

I looked up the diagram too just as a refresher but i already knew that they are on completely different circuits due to the power the a/c / heater circuit takes to be powered.

Another possiblity i'm thinking is the ingnition wire.. The blower and radio both require a power singal from the ignition to turn on.. thats why both can't be turn out without a key, unlike other devices such as interrior lights. So i would check the ignition wire going into the cd-player and blower motor.. then check the ground.

I'm sure you have checked the fuse like most people would. If you connect the motor to constant power and the blower works check the resistor. If you have replaced the resistor ($30-42) and still have no luck then it is your ignition switch! The blower motor has no relay, power comes directly off the switch (blue and white wire connect to your switch). I have looked high and low on the net looking for a relay before looking up wire schematics to find this out.

P.S. Have a radio or cigarette lighter issue? Could be the same issue, it is also connected to the ignition switch. Radio quit working five years ago and just started working after replacing the switch!
