I think the engineering that went into AcuraLink and SMS Texting is shockingly sloppy. I am speechless that only a handful of phones from a very limited number of providers is capable of full compatibility -- what were they thinking?:snipe:

I don't even know what those systems are supposed to accomplish. If the SMS thing is supposed to allow some sort of integrated texting with the onboard "entertainment" system then I think that is just a dumb idea to begin with.

For the new SMS texting, I think the poster's referring to the fact that you can only send one of six pre-programmed messages as a text response, because that is the only limitation I'm aware of. It will, however, read the text coming in through speakers with the built in text-to-speech software.
