Cannot open drivers side door using the inside door latch. Pull the latch and nothing happens. There is no problem opening the door from the outside. Even the power door locks work fine. I am thinking this may be a problem with the door latch cable. I took the door panel off to check it out . From a parts diagram I see the cable goes to the door lock/latch unit. I wanted to take the holding screws and bolt out but wasn't sure what would happen to latch assembly after that. I would appreciate any help diagnosing my problem and removing the latch assembly. I have maintained this car for 160K miles incl changing pwr wind regul. mirrows, braking system, minor engine and suspension work, so I am willing to try anything.

I've seen the little plastic clip that holds the cable break before. Possibly the reason for your headache?

From inside the door. Can it be removed once the 2 screws and bolt are out? Thanks

I need to see if I can find a diagram of the door panel. Typically, once you remove the trim around the door handle (if possible), you should be able to access that area with a small work window. Of course removing the door panel would be ideal as it makes working on that area much easier in terms of tools and room.
