I just got back from racing a prelude. The guy goes to my school and one of my friends told me he had I/H/E
So I'm rolling in my little pack and I hear this dude start to rev on the side of me. I break out of the group and follow him. So we're on this big stretch of road and we're pushing damn near 120. We were dead even the whole way. Then we just drive around for about 15 minutes just punching it. He beat me once and I got him once. That damn car was pretty fast! What all would he have to do to keep up with a TL? I could hear an intake and exhaust but I don't know for sure about headers. We pulled into a gas station and I asked him what he had and he was like "nothing"

I also know it was a manual...

He was owning my ass until I hit 3rd. then I cought up. I don't think he could hang with just intake and exhaust. Maybe the spraying/hissing sound was him opening up a bottle of nitrous on my ass

I think its for emergencies only like when that big beefy mustang is picking on you, its ok
I have always liked preludes but this is the first time I lost to one

Prelude can be fast.....

What year is the Prelude?? the 97up one or the 92-96 one?

I used to have a 95 Prelude VTEC with fully modified and the car run 13.68/106.8mi for 1/4 miles and I sold it to New Hampshire for race car.

Prelude can be really fast if tuned it right. Eventhough I'm driving a TL-S now I still miss my Prelude because it can't compete.

I was going to fix up my TL but not after test drive highway 9 because the car is too long and heavy.

true, from what i remember, the previous gen lude is actually faster than the current gen, and i think there is a model called srh (andy kuo from the other forum knows a lot about this) is really fast and can probably take us.

somehow i have a feeling that the reason why he didn't tell you what he had under the hood is that he was soooo embarassed that his SPORT car lost to your sedan. seriously, i have seen so many people being so pissed off when they lost to me coz' my pure sedan smoked them.

from your sig i don't see any engine mods other than the filter, so you can consider it an awesome win the hissing sound definitely means that he has at least the cai

i lost to to lude SX i believe, if they make one...i dont keep up w/ludes, only TL's...well the dude had greddy headers, aem cai, and apexi exhaust...once from zero to 100mph and it was so nasty, i didn't race him again...i kind of thought he got the gun at first, but he just kept leaving me and I couldn't do shit...ludes are fast...Shyne:king:

There is a prelude Type SH that is a 5-speeed 'lude with the same HLSD that the 03 CLS 6MT got.

That's the only change to a regular 'lude - but it's a big one for handling. The Type-SHes kick ass at autocrosses.

the hissing sound could be from a blow off valve. his car could be turbo charged without the intercooler being visible. i use to have a friend who hid his intercooler from the front grill...it was located right in front of the right tire. nobody knew it was tc'ed.. but usually if you can hear the "psssst" as he's driving then most likely its the blow off valve. usually you can hear it while racing and when you do.....release the gas pedal and stop racing LOL jk!

I had a 94 VTEC Lude that ran a 13.91 N/A out here in Palmdale, CA...

You just made me miss my lude as well...

A stock "newer gen" Lude will beat a stock TL with CAI on high end. Trust me, I was one of the dumbasses that thought I could kill one...after all it was just a Lude. Actually, he pulled slightly from 110 and when I hit 4th he was pulling more. Don't understimate them. After H/I/E/VAFC, went looking for any Ludes...couldn't find one

My neighbor has a turbo Lude and it's fast as hell. He keeps saying he wants to make it a sleeper, but he has a blow off valve...WTF, there goes the sleeper theory.
