2002 TL , first post so thanks in advance for any insights. When the car is cold in the morning , first start I get a P0118 code , coolant below temp range ,and the temp guage on the dash does not respond as the engine warms up. Once the engine is warm , I restart and temp guage reads new temp . code does not come back after clearing. I have changed the coolant sensor by the intake but have not chaged the one in the thermostat housing ( I believe it is the one that controls the fan switch ). Would this sensor be causing my issue or should I be looking for other solutions . Thanks

In most situations, the sensor at thermostat that has decreasing electrical resistance as the temperature goes up. One wire offers supply voltage for reference, and the change in voltage on the second wire is measured by the ECU to approximate the coolant temperature.
