What's this mod I keep hearing so much about?

Also - what do you guys use to make your fogs match the HIDs?

The fog lamp re-wire is for the 2002-2003 models. Acura made the cars 50-state DOT compliant, therefore the fog lamps only come on with the headlights. Alot of folks, myself included, re-wired the fogs to come on with the parking lights or by themselves.

Its a relatively cheap mod, do it yourself or any shop ~$30-$45, and makes a distinction. It also looks really cool when you are driving before dusk with just your fog lamps and parking lights on.

yup you can only do this mod with 02 or 03, though the mod is cheap but it looks GOOD:boink:

Regarding the HID fogs, some are buying the Philip's 6000K bulbs which supposedly let out a more blueish tint (our hids are blue when they come on, but turn white when they are hot). They place these in the front headlight assembly and put the oem HID in the fogs with the 6000k kit. Size wise, they are the same - 9006. This ain't cheap, about $600. An alternative might be just get some hid-looking bulbs for the fogs, like PIAA Super Plasmas.

How much are those? I used to have Silvania Cool Blues on my 95 Legend and they were pretty white. Bought them at Autozone. Not bad for 20 bucks.. :laugh:

It just looks cool mainly. Also, you can try to get any normal superwhite bulbs, but your always better off upgrading to HID. If you get the Phillips 4300K upgrade, it'll match with your factory ones. Here is a pic of my foglight mod.

Really easy mod, truly a 10-minute mod. I like it because I always drive with my lights on, always have always will. Now I can drive with just the fogs on during the day and not annoy people with the HIDS. Also what's cool is when you remote-unlock the car the fogs will flash, makes it nice and easy to see in a parking lot.

I don't think I have any pics of all my lights on. I will check, if not, I'll take one tonight and post it.

There's only two bad parts on this mod.

1. if you leave your lights on and let it autoshutoff, and when you push the lock button to make sure it's locked, your HID's will flicker, due to the fact that it is now linked to the headlamps. that's bad for the ballast

2. if you get HID Fogs, you'll need to turn off the switch, or else it'll come on and off when u lock/unlock, bad for the ballast as well.

So an ideal candidate for this mod would be the '01 and '02 CL's because our road lamps can flash without having a negative effect. Is this correct?

yup all three shots are with oem fogs, I guess the flash of the camera makes a big difference.

Yep. I'm still getting the HID Kit for the Fogs...I'll just leave the switch off, then when I want to blind people, i'll turn it on. I'm trying to figure out a way to customize my parking lots, and the way my car unlocks/locks. I'm going to be doing a custom alarm install. So this will be taken into consideration. Since i'm gonna have HID Fogs, and I don't want that flickering on and off.
