I'm not getting much help from the JDM post, so I'll ask it here.
I want to add a couple neon lights in the front footwells, and I want to be able to control them like the dome light (come on when the dome comes on, or if the dome switch is off, the footwells are off). So, does anyone know the best place to tap into for them? They won't draw much current, so I don't think it would be a worry. The fuse block for the dome? I would also add a switch so I can turn the footwell lights off, when needed ;)
So, anyone that has already addd there own want to help, or if someone with a Helms would be so kind to let me know the best place to tap into the dome wires, it would be appreciated. :D

I'm thinking it is best just to tap off the interior light/curtosy light fuse #11, but want to make sure.

Look in the passenger side fuse box. Look up the top of the fuse box for a green retangular connector with 4 wires in it. This is your dome light circuit. Unplug it with your door open to verify it.

It comes in green but you can change the bulbs. They say it's easy.

The bulbs are clear the plastic covers are green. You can change them to any color. Radio Shack sells covers.

I got some bright blue neons...and i was trying to installing them to the Dome light. ValueTL is right....the dome wires are the 4 wires comming from a green rectangular connector on the passenger side. But i don't know what function each of the 4 pins play. this is what i have found out

-----------
|1|2|3|4|
-----------
....|--|.....

Pin 2 is always at +12V, no matter if the dome light is on or off
and Pin 1,3,4 are always at 0V, matter if dome light is on or off.

I can't see how i would wire the neons to go on when the dome light is on when there is always a contant +12V power supply.

Could anyone help me how to wire them or anyone who has a Helems manual help me out thanks

Um, yeah. It confirmed my confusion. He doesn't know, either. one has a constant 12 V (not a good choice), and the other three are always at 0 V (don't seem like good choices, either). I guess I could get in there with my Fluke and try to figure things out. I was just hoping someone with a Helms handy could help.

The dome light switch is a local control so the only way to get that switch to control your footwell lights too is to run a wire from the switch, through the headliner and down to your footwell lights. You'd be better off installing a bypass switch of your own and tapping off the fuse box door trigger.

The fuse box door trigger is in the passenger side fusebox in that little connector. It is a negative trigger with delayed effect, meaning that it rests at a high impedence state when all the doors are closed and becomes grounded when any door is opened. Once the last door is closed, it slowly transitions from ground back to the high impedence state. This is an excellent wire to tap into cause it will give your footwell lights the exact same fade-out effect as your domelight. I seem to remember this wire being black colored, maybe with silver stripes, but I'm not sure. I haven't measured the current sinking capacity of this black wire, but I've been able to reliable drain about 5A through it, so it should be good. If you plan on running more current, you might want to use a relay but that would of course remove the fade-out effect.

N E one tried that real thin neon lighting?
Its made to wrap around the dash/radios/etc. i've seen it at target -- its round and about the circumference of um i dunno a small round electric wire... plugs into cig lighter and you can cut it --- think that would work well? wrap it up under the dash and wire it to the lights that come on when you open the door?

Streeet Wirez i think they're called

My neon footwell lights are wired to come on when the doors open or the alarm disarms or when you pull the key out of the ignition, just like the way the dome light currently works.

Oh, I've got the neon on all four footwells too, lighting up the whole interior nice and blue. You wouldn't believe how many compliments I get on this from passengers.

I've had it in for quite awhile now, since earlier this year. It was daytime though last time we were at Ray's house, so you wouldn't have noticed the lights anyhow.;) Have to wait till night time for the light show to begin.
