I haven't had any problems yet after 4500 miles (knock on wood) but I was wondering if maybe this had something to do with it...

When you're parked on an incline and you start the car, do you release the parking brake first, then shift into R or D, or do you shift first then release the parking brake? Also, specify if you've had transmission problems.

I had a failure on my CLS and we don't have many hills to speak of in FL.

well what i do is to put the car in d5 before releasing the foot brake. but when i release it, i hold my foot on the brake (right foot). after the foot brake is released, i would put the left foot on the brake and switch my right foot to the gas and start accelerate. at the same time start releasing the brake. this way the car doesn't roll back and somehow i think it's better for the car

wow, i thought i described an easy process in the hardest way, and yet you read it all

I guess I kinda meant when backing out of a driveway or something... see, in my car at least, the few times I've shifted first with the parking brake still in place, it makes a loud clunk, and it takes a little force to move the stick. However, if I release the parking brake first, then shift into reverse, I have no problem at all.

So far the transmission is behaving itself anyway, so I don't know what it could be. Just thought I'd point this out.
