I have a 2005 Acura MDX. I recently started hearing like a humming/whining/buzzing noise when I step on the gas at around 30mph and 60mph. The only recent thing done to the car was an oil change (switched over to synthetic). I checked the transmission fluid and it looks fine. The car has 97K miles on it.

I am not sure what is causing this. Can anyone help? Let me know if you need more information. I asked the Acura dealer and they said they would charge $160 to run a diagnostic to see what is wrong (rip off in my opinion).

Is it time to buy an extended warranty? If so, where should I get it from?

Thanks!

Couple things:

1. As far as an extended warranty, you'd be of course looking third party....once you're out of factory, you're no longer eligible for AcuraCare. As far as *which* one to buy, if you're interested, talk to your service advisor. Since they are the ones that have to submit them, they will know which are the bast as far as coverages, payouts, and ease of use.

2. Need to know where the buzz seems to be coming from. Does it sound like it's coming from under the dash or under the hood? Front, rear, etc? Also, note the ambient temp conditions and any other factors that can isolate the problem to one instance.
