My 2006 Acura TL will not shift out of park or from drive to park unless
I use a key to push the button near the shifter. My brake lights work
OK...no burnt out bulbs...cannot see any bad fuses...no warning lights on dash.
Transmission work great. What is my problem ? All help greatly appreciated.

Just a stupid question. you are pressing on the brake pedal when you got to shift right?

I forget to do that about half the time when I drive my dad's automatic at home (all my cars are standard trans).

No problem my man, I hope you know, sometimes as well the shift lock is effected by the steering column as well; or at least with many older Honda's.

If you turn the wheel towards the direction where it comes to a complete stop, but it obvious the wheel has more of turning radius, that is a mechanism for the shift lock as well. so that needs to be done too to completely remove the shift lock.

I dont know what or why this is happening to you, but I am just giving you the best idea from personal experience. Best of Luck
