i was driving in the rain and saw an integra with HID-II looked awesome. But the question is does it increase any visiblity with 6000k or the optimal light output is at 4300k.

Also noticed thundering storming- the thunder light seem to look closer to 6000k HID-II. hmmm. anyone else noticed?

yeah in theory the 6000k has less light output than the 4100k or 4300k. but from what i notice during driving, i don't see much light loss as well. now if you get 8000k that's a mistake imho

they have 8000k?!? Dang i can imagine how bright that would be.
for the 8000K, you need to replace your stock ballast with another one that can handle them. our stock ballast can only handle up to the 6000K bulbs. so in addition to less output, thats another reason NOT to get the 8000K bulbs
yeah they have 7000k and 8000k. i hvae seen them and to me it's a no no. the 7000k is greenish, and the 8000k is way too blue. and yes, it looks dim at a distance, kinda kill the whole point of hid :)

and yes, you need new ballasts, a BIG no no :)

evolaerok :bash: 8000k has nothing to do with the measure of light output but the color it emits.
HID II means 6000K ??? :dunno:

Anyways, I've heard 8000K look so purplish.

Yeah, what is HID II? I don't know either!:( :D

yes HID-II is 6000k
HID-I is 4300k.

where this came about? I don't think it's industry standard cuz they do have 6300k and 8000k and even heard 12000k (which is bs). 4300 Kelvin is probably the best light output, but as it gets higher it looks more bluish purple. people are getting those to copy the audi/s2000/5 series HID. The fact of the matter is that those lights are 4300k, but the housing is different with reflective properties to make them look more bluish-purple at an angle.

the best price i found for HID-II or 6000k bulbs are at www.suvlights.com ds2 for bimmerz.

What cars have HID-II as factory option?

The only thing I can think of is either S2000 or BMW projector D2S's. Those are so~~ BLUE when I look at it from the opposite side.

no car has HID-II as factory option. It will never be an option since the 4300k has the optimal light output. The reason for the s2000 and BMWs have blue from certain angle is due to it's housing and project style lens vs. conventional for the Honda/Acura, & other brands.

i could be wrong, but i thought 6000k is actually street illegal? if you read carefully you will see that all 6000k setups you can buy have that disclaimer saying this is for off road, meaning it's street illegal.

and just like what lil said, all cars including audi, bimmer, and s2k come with either 4100k or 4300k only. it's mostly due to the lens, reflective properties, and also that they are projective rather than reflective, that make them look bluish
I see. I've always wondered why and finally I have my answer. :D

also, 6000K is NOT street legal. thats why they're not an option with any car

I never knew. Then what if we get pull over for having 6000K bulbs? What should I say?

"I didn't know, officer" (????) :dunno:

chances are you wont get pulled over for them...you can just lie and tell him that they are OEM and they came with the car. he is not going to take the time to tell you to take out the bulb right there and then, and show him that its OEM. besides, most cops are ignorant to the different bulbs. if he gives you a ticket, then you fight it by going to court but first switch the bulbs just in case the judge orders you to take them out right there and then, and tell the judge that theyre OEM.

well yeah, believe me with 6000k no cops can get close to you. it's white, and there is virtually no way they can prove that on scene that you have 6000k rather than 4100k. you can tell them hid is stock on your car and you are using stock bulbs and they can't do nothing on you. now even if they are anal enough to give you a ticket, change your bulb back to stock and go to court and fight it. even the judge can't prove you wrong.

the fact that our cars are equipped with hid is a big plus, coz' it would be hard for anyone to prove what bulbs we are using. now if you have 7000k or 8000k that could be a diff story coz' those are pretty plain blue or purple.

also that's why you would have less chance getting pulled than an civic or integra getting pulled for having 6000k hid. when cops see them with hid the cops know they are aftermarket :)
