Are there any tranny problems on the RL's??

I would like to know this as well.... I imagine most RL owners are older and don't drive their cars the way TL'ers do... but I wonder if that engine over-taxes that tranny, or if their tranny has been beefed up ??

well they have only a 4-speed tranny. As far as tranny problems there arent any in my family. My old man owned a 96 and now a 99 (lease is almost done on it) and both cars are soild as can be. My dad drives it, he doesnt baby it at all. I can say he drives the car like i drive my TLS. Still soild!! After having 46,000 miles on his 99 RL, it still feels better than my american made TLS.

I did not have any problems with my tranny until I started adding performance parts. I have a 96' civic intake replaced resonator with performance cat, ractive 5" oval muffler tip exhaust and header back 2 3/4" pipe. If I am in full throttle and let off the gas in mid fourth overdrive kicks in really hard so I have kinda held back on it because I just hit 50,000 miles and no more warranty

I've never seen any RL trans problems among all the RLs in Western NY.
