I took my car in for an inspection/emissions, and my mechanic showed me that my hood latch had broken to the point where my hood no longer closes completely (or safely). I was a bit steamed that he had been the one to break it, but I knew that there was only a thin, not-very-reliable-looking piece of metal in which the support bolt was mounted for the safety latch mechanism.

I'm going out tomorrow to the junk yard hoping to find the part, but it occurs to me I don't even know what you call it...is it a core support? Whatever it is, it looks like the part(s) won't be fun to take off another car. My questions are:

-Is this part called a "core support?"
-What other Hondas/Acuras might share the same part? (Since I doubt I'll find a junked RSX, and I know this part on my 95 Integra has different dimensions)
-Any advice on removing and installing the piece of metal for my hood latch?

Thanks, and sorry if my description was vague...my mechanic just called it the "hood latch part," and I've not seen any similar topic on this forum by anyone with the same problem. Thanks for any help.

Hm. Some pictures here would help, to see what you're up against.
