I'm happy with my Epson. I have a 1640 but the current version is 1650. Its USB. Unlike a lot of cheap scanners, the twain software actually makes it easy to have full manual control of the process when you want. Installation was a snap and the scans is produces blow my old HP out of the water. It lists for $199. Epson also makes a 1250 for about $100.

How about $10 for a new scanner? :) Staples.com has the Visioneer 8100 (originally $99.99) with a $70 rebate http://www.staples.com/Products/SpotLights/Visioneer/437849_02/Default.asp Plus, pick a $20 off coupon for a purchase over $100 (you're gonna have to pick something else up that's $.01 or more to make you eligible for the coupon  ) from here http://www.earthtoday.com/cgi-bin/deals.pl?category=office Then, you end up paying $10 for the scanner with free shipping :)
WOW!

I'll check that out. for ten bucks? can't beat that with a lead pipe!
thanks, babe.
