Hi,

Sometimes after I have been driving (highway) for 10 minutes or so, the tachometer needle will suddenly peg low at zero.

Then about 15 minutes later (driving ~70mph or so) the tachometer will start working correctly again but my red low oil light (oil pressure?) will start flashing.

It will stay this way until I shut off the engine.

It doesn't always do it.

Any ideas? :wtf:

Thanks, Jeff

I forgot to add that I checked my oil level and it is fine.

Sounds like a bad sensor or electrical connector not seated properly but I don't know enough about the RL to tell you where to look... :\

I almost want to say that it may be 2 separate issues, but with electrical, it's always hard to tell. IIRC, the oil pressure switch should be up near the oil filter housing area. As for the Tach, I'm not sure where it gets its signal from on this car.

They may be separate issues, but they are related. I never get a low oil light without the tachometer needle falling to 0, first. And, every time the tachometer starts working again, I always get a low oil level light shortly afterwards.
