Dear friends;

I have a 2003 MDX Touring with 110K miles. I love the car as i have a big family.

Few weeks ago i the car started to have a burning smell from the transmission which missed gear randomly but i was able to get home. I did not drive the car since but yesterday the car stopped moving completely under any gear.


Last Thanksgiving, the car broke down on the highway and it was the radiator going bad and mixed coolant with Transmission fluid. I had the radiator replaced and flushed the trani fluid and replaced it with OEM fluid.


The A/T Temp light came on and then off after the car stopped. I checked the fluid and it was dark and not the original color, so maybe i should have flushed the trani again


Any idea what to do?

Get rid of the car.

The transmission is junk. The dose of coolant mixed in the tranny oil fried the transmission. The clutch packs started to slip then. Recently they started to slip badly, driving got them so hot, you smelled the phenolic burning.

The debris has contaminated your new radiator and the tranny lines. If you are extremely handy, you could get a junkyard tranny, radiator and lines and replace them yourself for about $1000. Personally, I would not do it.
