Hey guys,

I purchased a used CL 1997 3.0 last year with about 136K miles on it. The damn thing has been nothing but problems, only one that I was aware of is the EGR Port that has to be cleaned that is causing the Check Engine Light to come on. Now the ABS light is on the I think the alternator is bad. I did have the brakes looks at and replaced the pads and then had the rotors resurfaced in the rear or front. Has new tires, transmission service, battery, etc. Any ideas on what the issue could be with the ABS light and also how much am I looking at to get the alternator fixed?

We paid $2800 and need to sell it. Hope I can get $2K. It is in very rough condition. I went by what the blue book value was and adjusted for the condition when I bought it and also what had to be fixed.

Thanks,

Weaver

One piece of advice I'll give you here. Many times the ABS light comes on will come on (if it's not a sensor issue), because the car was panic stopped for the first time in a long time, and something hung up inside the ABS pump.

Take the car to a big parking lot, and do 3 or 4 hard stops from about 20 MPH to see if the light goes off. It may cure the issue, as I said, assuming the ABS sensors at the wheels are good.
