Hello,

I recently popped my tire on my Acura 3.5RL and its about time to change all the tires as well. The stock tires say that the size is 225/55R16. Those tires are pretty expensive and when I did some googling they said that the alternative OEM tires are sized 215/60R16. Will the 215/60R16 fit the car well or will I have to shell out the extra money for the OG tire size? I saw that Acura only changed from the 215/60R16 in 2002 to the 225/55R16 so I wanted to know if I can get away with going for the 215/60R16 instead.

Switching to a 215/60R/16 from a 225/55R/16 is no problem at all. The 215/60R/16 will be about 10.5 mm taller and the width will be about 10mm smaller and the sidewall will increase about 5.24mm. My 2000 RL came stock with the 215/60R/16 and it is plenty of tire for this car in my opinion, but that is also the smallest size recommended. Some folks like the more aggressive look of the 225/55/16 but's a matter of taste and as you have seen a matter of cost when you look at the price difference when replacing your tires.

Thanks Headless, I like it too. Spent about 4.5 hours detailing it a few weekends ago and decide to take a couple photos when I was done.
