Just changed my oil. I have not checked it at all since I bought the car and my mechanic told the car was below the low mark. He thinks it was a quart or more low. My garage floor is clean, no leaks. Did I burn it up?
Most likely yes, you did burn it up. New engines use oil due to the added friction of all the new parts wearing in. Just check it for the next 2 oil changes every couple days...it'll get better over time as your car breaks in.
My mechanic charged me $22 for the oil and filter change. My other car took a different weight that he has in a drum ($17). This oil he pours out of quart bottles. Oh well, I can deal with $5 extra.
