Hello:

I have an intermittent no start problem on my 2008 Acura MDX. The car has been to the dealer and an independent shop who could not duplicate (they need to test it only when it wont start which is about once a week). When I go to start the car the key will turn and there will be one click, no start. All accessories work (fan, horn, radio)...plenty of battery power. The car will start right up with a 5 second jump start from another car (not from a jump box).

The car has a brand new battery (replaced a 6 month old battery). Both batteries test good.
The battery cables and terminals are like new, clean, and grounded properly
The starter and alternator were tested, both working good.
The problem happens with both sets of car keys
I tried moving the steering wheel, pressing the brake petal...no help.

Any ideas????

I too am having this issue with my 2007 MDX. Started about a week ago and seems to be increasing in frequency. Once I insert the key all electrical components function normally. It is not a battery issue. The ignition just does not turn over. I have been making sure the break pedal is fully down and the pushing the gear shift as far into park as possible and then it starts.
But seems to be getting worse each day.
Worried about becoming stranded.

I bought mine from a used car dealer who has taken good care of me for the past 15 years or so. I just got it in April. The first night mine did the same thing with the same results with my dealer's mechanics. He refunded my money and had his specialist take a look at it. If he could fix it, I could take it for a few days and repurchase it or not - no obligation or strings attached. His guy got to it, checked it and fixed in short order. He said there was a loose ground contact at either the alternator or starter. I do not recall exactly. I took it back, drove it from East Orange, NJ to Ocean City, MD, and back with no problems. Before I left I changed the battery. While giving her a DIY detail, I had the hatch open, and the battery ran down. I charged it overnight, and it was still at around 30%. After I changed the battery, no problems. When I returned from Ocean City, Willie Elam and I re-finalized the deal.
