Question on how a tranny works

Do any of you guys know if there is such a thing in a tranny called a "PCM"??

I was told that it had something to do with getting the car from 1st to 2nd.

I was also told that the TL-S has a different "PCM" than a regular TL.

Line of crap, or what??

A PCM - or Powertrain Control Module - monitors all aspects of the vehicle. You may also know of it as the OBD or OnBoard Diagnostics. I believe the modern TL is OBDII or OBDIII - can't remember.

I believe the PCM is also in charge of commanding the shifts - so yeah, it could absolutely be the fault. I recall several CLs on their 3rd tranny that when the PCM was replaced never had a problem with the tranny again.
