I have a 2002 Acura TL that wouldn't start the other day, but after receiving a jump it turned over. I later found out the problem was not my battery but the positive cable connection. After having the connector replaced, the radio went into defense mode and now needs to have the security code entered before it will come back online. My only problem is the manufacturer's code doesn't work and I only get 10 tries (already use 5) before it prevents me from entering any more codes for 1hr.
I called an Acura dealer (not where I purchased it) and they tried to back door me in, but that didn't work. I was told it has something to do with the radio not accepting the signal because it has been programmed to receive the signal through a previously vacant radio station. Now I'm told I need to spend $90 for Acura to take out my radio and pull out the antenna so it will "reset" and accept my code. They did however verify that my code is correct. My concern is two-fold: 1) What happens when I have to replace the battery? Would I have to pay another $90 to resolve the issue?; 2) Why should I pay $90 for what seems to be a design flaw?
If anyone has ever encountered this issue and can provide me with a cost-free solution, if possible, I'd really appreciate it.
