Ok So i just bought a 2002 rsx type s today and thirs gear grinds i want to fix that but i was wondering if the whole transmission needs to be replaced or just the gear or how does that work?

First try changing out the trans fluid. The 3rd gear grind is common. Changing the trans fluid is like putting a band-aid on a hemorrhage. Only way to really fix it is to tear the transmission down and rebuild it.
