Hi guys,
I'm looking at buying an '07 TL Type S with 67,000km on it and was wondering what people's experiences with the car have been? Are they costly to maintain? Are there common problems? The reason I ask is because if I make the move from my 2010 Mazda 3 to this car, I'll be not only moving to an older car that I'll be paying off until it is 11 years old but also taking on about $7-$8k in negative equity so I want to make sure that if I make the trade, I'm not going to be moving to a car that is known to be problematic or have high maintenence costs. Any thoughts?

The TL will last you for a really long time, given you do the required maintenance.

The maintenance costs aren't that expensive as Audi or BMW, and it's relatively easy to maintain.

The only costy maintenance is done at 105k miles, which would be a long way for the TL you're looking at.

If you go to the dealer for maintenance, you'll almost always get ripped off.
Find an indy shop or local mechanic and the maintenance will be cheap.
Hondas/Acuras are very easy to work with.

It all depends on you my friend, most of our sites are DIY type deal. The dealerships will take your wallet for a ride. For the most simplest issues and maintenance wise, it is not difficult; and only really helps the longevity of your vehicle.

The type S model has most the bases covered, but you need to do some things to your transmission as well every 75-100k miles. You should just read up on the forums, I believe it is a pressure switch and a sensor needed to be changed to maintain a proper working transmission. Which will only make your car last forever really. Motor wise we have a beast, that can be beaten to death really and still survive =) So the issues are really based upon maintaining your vehicle as the gentleman in the last comment mentioned.

I personally own one, and it is a beautiful car, I love it and I baby my car a lot. I do not drive crazy, but some people have issues with the car when the weather is extremely hot. Read about some of these things on here!
