drove dealers demo again for short test loop about
10 miles after having taken out tls for about one hour. Impressions, torque steer that i had not noticed
the first 2 drives was there, twice the car almost
got away from me. car is fast. handles well except for torque steer problem, notice resonance starting in first, this time with weather clear and little wind did hear the engine working in all
gears including 5&6th at highway speeds/ In comparison, the tls at 60 mph was at about 1500
rpm. no engine noise.lot or road noise on tls.But cabin is more isolated from road in CLS CLS WAS reving a lot higher. less road noise.gearing does make a big difference tls is also fast Note same tires/ overall for the money there is nothing close :) :) :)

From the March 2002 issue of Car and Driver:

There were some who returned from strafing the hinterlands with complaints about torque steer, but we're inclined to classify such carping as- let's be kind- nonsense. What one feels, thanks to the CL's scalpel-sharp rack-and-pinion steering, is the limited slip doing its job. It bites into corners like a bulldog, and the little hints of something going on down there are simply reminders of the diff adjusting to cornering loads, steering angle, and what the driver is doing with his right foot.
Interesting, huh? :dunno:
