True Traction Control is actually an electronic system that cuts spark to the engine when it senses that the wheels are slipping, under acceleration. Most people confuse traction control with limited slip or torque-biasing differentials. These act mechanically when there is a difference in speed between the driving wheels, with a clutch mechanism, or helical gears.
All Wheel Drive and Quattro are basically just four-wheel drive systems.
There is also Skid Control, which applies the brakes to individual wheels when the “brains” in the car senses itself starting to slide in a corner.
The RSX-S does not have Traction Control or Skid Control. I have heard somewhere that there are exotic after market chips that have Traction Control systems in them. But for real world driving you would be much better of with an aftermarket limited slip or torque biasing differential. This would make a big improvement in foul weather and dry pavement acceleration. I would go for the torque-biasing differential, they work much better for front wheel drive applications and they don’t have a clutch to wear out.
Hey, if you don’t ask questions you don’t learn stuff.
