Hi everyone, I have a question about my auto-transmission on my 2006 Acura TL

What is the most common cause of the transmission slipping on this car?

- Torque converter

- Solenoid problems
- shift solenoids
- clutch pressure control solenoids
- torque converter clutch solenoid

- Sensors
- input shaft speed sensor
- output shaft speed sensor

- or Bad transmission, just replace it

- or other?

Thank you for the support!

Hi,
A number of possibilities exist, but a qualified AT-specialist will determine the cause very quickly as he/she will have massive experience with failed Honda/Acura ATs--buttoned to the V6s--that (ATs) are among the worst in the industry. Some years ago I lost the AT on my 2004 TL with only 120K miles with no hard driving at any time. That is inexcusable in the face of the competition--Toyota/Lexus and others--having AT's lasting well over 200K. This issue is one of the reasons why Honda/Acura has fallen from 3rd-4th place to 13th and 15th place over the last six years in quality, craftsmanship, reliability, and dependability. People who research and become informed are very unlikely to purchase another H/A product again. I hope the factory turns this sad development around.
