Very soon to be a new owner of a 1st ge RDX! One quick question though.

I've driven multiple 2008 and 2009 RDX's and the one I want to buy (a 2008, 84k miles, impeccable service record) has a significantly louder turbo than others. The power/acceleration/idle etc all seems exactly the same, just a much louder turbo when you get on the gas, even just part throttle. Do you think this might simply an aftermarket air filter or intake? I don't mind the extra whoosh, but wife thinks she'll get annoyed with it for daily driving.

Thanks!

The turbo is very sensitive to the film in the oil used. In majority of cases full synth oil must be used with turbos along with premium gas only. Not doing this would gradually damage the turbo causing unusual sounds.
It's recommended to let the turbo be inspected by a expert mechanic who specializes in turbos to just be on the safe side. Turbos are very expensive both part and labor to replace.
