damn! I'm stuck with A/T since I can't drive stick. So even if the transmission issue on a '01 to '03 A/T model was fixed twice it still doesn't guarantee that I won't run into the same issue, correct?

It depends on who did the repair, and what was done. The issue comes from a lack of lubrication on the transmission mainshaft. Acura reman transmissions are corrected internally for this issue. However, that's not to say that the potential isn't there even then for any future concerns. A lot of it is predicated on the way you drive, or the way the person who owned the car, drove.....and that's information that most likely you won't ever know.

It's like anything, really. If you beat on it hard enough, it'll break. While the engines can generally withstand many years of abuse, the transmission won't.

Avoid the problem completely and LEARN how to drive a standard transmission. Its more fun and serves as a theft deterrent too!

Do any of you know if the auto transmission problem is a corrected issue in any particular year TL? For example, is the recall issue not relevant on gen 3 TL's? I may be looking at an 07 or 08 TL & selling my 03. Thanks in advance for any input.

The early 3rd gen TLs (04-06) have also had some issues. Something to do with solenoid switches. I think the 07-08 are pretty much trouble free. But you do need to drain and refill a lot more frequently than the recommended service interval.
