2006 TL Navig 168K miles. The car did not start. The battery is new. I pumped the ignition for 30 seconds (20 times or so), and it did start. What is the likely cause?

Well sometimes it might not be a fault with the car battery. A simple way to test is to see if your headlights are dimmer than usual, try sounding the horn to see if its still as loud. And when you turn your ignition, is there a click or multiple clicking sounds?

The dead battery is the top 1 reason of no-start.
How do you check the battery ?
You could test by jump-starting your acura.
If it works,you’re most likely having a dying battery.
What you should do is removing and cleaning the terminals.Then fully charge the battery and have it load tested.
Or have a mechanic do the service for you.
Besides,failed ignition switch,bad starter,clogged fuel delivery and no spark also can cause car won't start.
