ALL THOSE CYLINDERS, and GTs still get slaughtered

I beat non-Cobra Mustangs all day long. I'll admit that they aren't 'slow', but they are slower than my '93 Legend, or really any other Gen2 (91-95) Legend I've driven. Most recently, I (with 1 pasngr) bumped into a '02 Mustang GT Coupe on Outer Drive near Greenfield in Detroit. It went like this:

Approaching red light, there is some non-combatant in left lane, I pull up next to her in right lane, and the Mustang GT pulls up behind me, for a second, and then pulls around to the far-right lane (where u can park), pulls next to me, starts SHAKING HIS HEAD, and says to his girl "they gotta be kidding", she smiles.
Bad Move on his part. I take it out of D3(auto) into neutral, hold the revs to 2600rpm, and wait for the light. I launch on green, spinning up to ~18mph, GT mustang is right next to me. At ~25mph I look over and watch as he falls back out of my view. My Auto shifts to 2nd at ~41mph, he loses ground, shifts to third ~70mph, he loses ground. I notice he's STILL TRYING (the fool) as I approach redline in 3rd. I shift into D4 manually at ~105mph, and the Mustang is now 2-3 car lengths back. Now I'm outta gears, so I just hold the gas. I took it to a little over 140 (in a 35mph zone), and this guy was WAAY back there, 6-7 car lengths. I back off, start braking at 110, and intentionally miss next light (brakes are HOT HOT HOT).
This guy pulls up, and all HE can do now is smile! "I guess all those cylinders slowed you down!" was my response. His girl laughed. He stopped smiling.

I left that light spinning excessively, much, much smoke. He failed to follow, I guess the point was proven!

You gotta love the V6 4-door sedan that whups a V8 2-door "sports car" all the way past 140! Truly, TRULY BEAUTIFUL!!!

Drive Safely, Cuzzins!
(and shift it yourself!!!)

first off: what are you doing neutral dropping? esp. since your ride is older, one of these days, you gonna see your tranny in your rearview mirror breaking off into pieces behind you...

most importantly however than the well-being of your car... is the well-being of your MIND!! Legend beating a GT STANG??? hahahahahahahahahaha... c'mon bro, you know that's impossible, not even close yo... don't even dawg...

If my stock CL-S can beat a Legend there is no way in hell you beat a Mustang GT... No way in hell. You can doo all the corny neutral drops, give yourself a billion shot of NOS you will still loose to a Mustang GT. Sorry, the pile of bullshit this guy just laid can be seen from space.

Read and COMPREHEND

First off, are you people crazy???? Exactly HOW FAST do you think these GT-version Mustangs go????? FYI- a '02 COBRA-version Mustang does 0-60 in 5.5-5.6 sec, with 320hp. A TL-S stick shift will do that speed in 5.7 according to Car and Driver with their testing equipment. GTs have 60 hp LESS!!!! Get REAL, cuz, GT-mustangs are NOT FAST!

AND, I never claimed to whup a COBRA dammit, I WHUPPED a GT! And that also is my second point. I'm not here claiming I WOULD OR WOULD NOT DO a d*mn thing!!!!
I'm telling you all WHAT HAPPENED and how it happened! Period point-blank. This is no theory, this was an ACTUAL event, real life does exist!!!! And in this real life, I did exactly what I said in exactly the way I said it. BEEN THERE, DONE THAT 4 REAL CUZ!!!
'Nuff said.

As to the method of launching, I don't recommend that to anyone. But I do know that I AM faster off the line when I launch it myself.
My family has owned 7 Legends and 1 Sterling 827 Sl since 1989. I have launched them all in that fashion at one time or another. It IS NOT the best way to launch EVERYDAY allday, but it DOES help when races if you do it right a don't blow the trans.
Out of the aforementioned multiple Legends (and 1 Sterling), exactly ONE required transmission work, and that was before I had a liscense, NOT MY FAULT.
TRUTHFULLY, I too worry about trans life and now only use this launch for agreed-upon-Draggin' and Grudge matches with friends Caddys, Mustangs (aGTeven!), and '03 Marauders(302hp,318lb/ft). In normal driving, I don't launch manually, BUT I STILL WHUP GT MUSTANGS!!!

And, beating Mustangs is nothing new. Like I said, I've been driving MANY DIFF Legends over the years, AND THEY WERE JUST PLAIN FASTER THAN GT-VERSION MUSTANGS. How many diff ways do I have to say it?????????
For all the non-believers, all I can say is CHANGE YOUR OIL, or sumthin, and you too will beat gtmustangs, if not, GET YOU LEGEND FIXED!!!
That's about it, if you still don't believe, get a GT and I'll show U my backside!

And to SCORPIUS, AKA Mister "give yourself a billion shot of NOS you will still loose to a Mustang GT. Sorry, ",
SAVE THAT CRAP for someone who doesn't race or know about cars----
I can Nitrous and Civic to beat a Dodge Viper, only a buffoon would think a Nitrous Legend couldn't beat a car that I beat STOCK w/no nitrous.

I'm out, Cuz!
Get Oil!!!

:dunno: :dunno: I have never seen this beast. Stop magazine racing with 1 car test.

I think u are racing stock Mustangs with GT badges or something.

... well... if you say it is so, then so be it... it just doesn't add up man... the TL-S would even lose to a GT manual and even a GT auto would not be a cakewalk either (there was a thread about this somewhere, look it up)... and trust me, your ride can't beat a TL-S on any given day... numbers aside, all things considered, this is just a bit too hard to swallow man...

ummm gt mustangs have 60hp less than the type-s? wtf are you smoking? Gt mustangs have 265hp and a shitload more torque than a type-s. You must have smoked a regular mustang...the one with the v6..

No, No GTvsCobra, 5.6sec minus60hp=LOSER

No, No you got it all wrong!
A GT Mustang has 60hp less than a 5.6sec Cobra Mustang!!!
Which is why I asked "how fast do u think a GT is, if the Cobra stick is 5.6sec 0-60", and the GT has less power, it can't be 5.6 or even close.

What doesn't add up is how a 5.7 sec TL-S would LOSE to a GT, if its only 1 tenth of a second slower than a COBRA(that has 60more horsesthan GT)???? Explain that sh!t!!!!!!

I HAVE races MANY GT Mustangs, they are common vehicles. Damnit, check their top speed---that's why it is so low, the GT is some slow bullsh!t!
I just got my ride in Jan, and, if you don't believe anything else I say believe THIS, I WOULD NOT have purchased my latest Legend if I had not beaten many, many GT Mustangs in many Legends over the years! Cuz, seriously, GT Mustangs and Northstar Cadillacs are my BREAD AND BUTTER, everyday victims. Not Z28s, not COBRAS, not Corvettes, Vipers, or anything other than what I've said! But GTMUSTANGS--yes, yes, yes, yes--I WHUP THOSE, all day, no problem, all the way past 140+!
Don't get mad, GET A 'TUNE-UP', or sumsh!t.

BEEN THERE, DONE THAT, BEAT THAT, NEXT QUESTION.

first off, you shouldn't even be going over 140mph, esp. considering the age of your car; please be careful...

your car: 200hp/210 lbs/ft. torque; 1/4 mile time high 15's.
his car: 260hp/302 lbs./ft. torque; 1/4 mile time mid-high 14's (depending on transmission; low 15's SLOWEST for an auto)

ONE WHOLE SECOND DIFFERENCE!!! If it was manual, he would have blown the doors off your ride, if it was an auto, he still woulda left you hanging pretty bad bro... and it's not like you have any crazy mods either... if what you say is true, 0-60 times don't even apply here cuz you guys must have gone way more than a 1/4 mile (over 100mph you said)... do the math.

look at the torque numbers MAN!!! almost 100lbs./ft difference... even a Nascar driver wouldn't be able to make that kind of difference up in your ride... maybe it was a V6 frontin like it was a GT...

a 2001 Stock mustang GT will do 0-60 in 6.1.
they have 260hp @ 5250 and 302 ft*lbs at 4,000. Sorry, Either show me a video of you beating one of these weighed down Mustangs or shut your hole. Somebody find Pull_t.
Also... I don't believe for a sec you got close to 140. Are you sure you weren't using kilometeres?

Enuff of the Bullsh...

Scorp, I guess you jumped off that 'SS Camaro beats NSX' thing, huh?

So NOW Legends don't go "close to 140mph"--
"Also... I don't believe for a sec you got close to 140. Are you sure you weren't using kilometeres?"----SERIOUSLY.

Man you are just plain OFF!!! Are you sure you're not driving an Accord or sumthing? Legends go PAST 140+, what the F*c are you talking about. And its NOT my mods, every Gen2 Legend I've driven pulls past 140, get real. ARE THERE ANY LEGEND OWNERS OUT THERE THAT CAN'T DO 140MPH???? If so, check your damn head gasket or sumthin, cause YOUR car ain't right. Period, cuz.

As for 'your' numbers, explain how a 5.7 0-60 TL Type S Manual will *LOSE* to a '6.1sec' GT Mustang. Hell, the 240hp Honda Accord Manual gets to 60 in 5.8, I bet it can't beat a 6.1sec Mustang either huh?

Man, I've been beating GT Mustangs in Acura Legends for the past 10 years, DON'T EVEN TRY to tell me I haven't. That's just that. If you don't believe me---AT LEAST RACE A GT MUSTANG BEFORE YOU COME WITH ALL THIS "D*CK HANDLING"!
I have, and I've won all the damn time! The ONLY Mustang to beat me was an SVT Cobra, and the GT AIN'T NO DAMN COBRA!!!

So basically, I'm done. Apparently this forum is no different from the rest of the world--people here think the Legend is slow--UNTIL ONE BEATS YOU. Every Mustang owner I've raced THINKS he(or she) will win, sometimes even after they've lost more than once. They feel its a fluke or a bad launch or a million other EXCUSES---------BUT NO EXCUSE CAN STOP A LEGEND THAT IS IN THE LEAD AND PULLING AWAY.

But, alas, this is absolutly POINTLESS. It is not my fault that the Legend dos not fit into your "theory" of Mustang Superiority. Hell, I bet you all think a GT Mustang will beat a Z06 Vette, SO HOW CAN I ARGUE WITH THAT KIND OF LOGIC???????

All I did here is tell of a TRUE event that actually happened, which is what I thought this forum was for. I related it step-by-step, shift-by-shift because thats how the race went. This is NOT a 'THEORY' about torque v. horses v. weight v. shift technique, etc. This is a REAL WORLD experience because that is where I reside----IN THE REAL WORLD---not a theoretical one. Also, when forming your theory, please leave your "USA best, bigger-is-always-better, V6 vs. V8" BIAS at the door!

0-60 times don't mean much at all. It's what happens after that that really matters. I bet the mustang starts pulling the type S in easily at 100.

Post a video and I'll believe you. Easy as that. Certainly you can afford one... bet a few hundred bucks you'll beat the next Stang you roll up to. Too much 420 in that Legend.
