bummer, I wouldn't have thought that main interface changed for 07, but I guess it did, have you checked with the manufacturers of the video interface I used? (www.avelectronic.com). Maybe they have some thoughts or changes they could make for that new interface.

I checked out putting the sensors on this one as they work well and have two tones to tell you whether it is too the side on in back of the car. That worked great. Called Acura for some help and they said nope. Called the dealership to see how much to install the sensors and it was $830. I think i only paid around 500 last year for my 06 if I remember correctly. I prefer to stay away from aftermarket so they cannot void warantee if something goes wrong, which they could by claiming the cause was the aftermarket intall. I think the aftermarket install is superior from what I see here but I am going to pursue the issue of getting this to boot up faster. I think it is a safety issue.

Hi there Nicely Done. Do you think this can be done on a 2005 TSX with Navi? Did you take step by step pictures of your process? - Just trying to figure out where you connected the wire to the backup lights....
Thanks!

pictures

the only pictures I have are posted at http://jt.inetz.com/2006TL/camera/, it's been a few years so I can't remeber the exact wires, but I used the power to the reverse lights to power the camera so that it would automatically activate when the car was in reverse.

The only extra pieces I used were a handful of zip ties to keep the cables in place, a rubber gromet to seal up the hole where the camera cable went through the trunk just above the license plate, and a small towel that I wrapped around the video switchbox so it didn't rattle around in the side wall of the trunk. I had someone help me that had experience with car stereo installation, so semi-professional I guess you could say.

Back up camera for 2004 TL

:beerchug:Thanks for the write up and the pictures. I have a 2004TL and was always bothered by the lack of visibility when backing up. Your write up gave me the courage to try installing the backup camera myself. I bought the parts from AV electronic. Along with the Navi Camera/Video Interface (AV ID Number V2, $275.00) I also bought AV Electronics’ Black License Frame with built in Color Back up Camera. (AV ID Number LPCP-8, $150.00) The frame is a nice black color which blends well with my Silver TL.

Although the instructions could be improved I found the wiring to be easy if I took my time and double-checked everything. The hardest part of the installation was removing the lining on the trunk lid and wall of the trunk. All in all it’s a rewarding feeling to have a system that is so well integrated into the rest of my TL. I could not have done it without your photos. Thanks for taking the time to write this up.

Thanks for the update. I'm getting brave enough to do this myself! If possible, could you post a picture with the black frame installed..I think I am going to order the black as well. Thanks again...

I used this same unit from avelectronic & couldn't be happier with how it performed!

I did use a different camera, which I mounted above the license plate & concealed underneath the silver trim piece.

Since I just totalled my TL ... I have thse avelectronic unit withthe camera & mounting kit for sale for $200 shipped ... see my post in the for sale - aftermarket parts forum!
