Is there a gas saving mod?

Is there a mod that will reduce the power of the TL when we want to go into gas saving mode? Maybe like a chip or something and there can be a switch in the car and we can flip the car into gas saving mode when we want.

This would be great for when I am zipping to the grocery store or on a date and driving less agressive.

I'm suprised that I haven't heard about a mod like this yet...

Yeah, not to be a smartass, it's called the driver.

I have an '04 TL with the manual transmission and I average 26-27 MPG in the summer months around town and just under (barely under) 34 on the road WITH the A/C running.

Those are decent numbers and I have hit 27.98 in town when I was using gas saving techniques.

I read about it, and don't believe it. Why can't there be a mod for this? Lets get together and be millionaires.

For example, why can't we save on gas by making the car only pump out 2.5L by modding the injection a little. Is it possible for the feul injection to go back and forth? I am no grease monkey, but anything can be done.

Live on the top of a mountain and coast down then get airlifted back home.

Attach a big sail to the roof and always travel with the wind.

While stopped at a light, chain up to the car in front of you.

Hire people to push you

No. That would make it run incredibly lean - dangerously so. Look, the best way to get better mileage is simply to ease of the pedal. Keep the RPMs as low as possible. Keep up with maintenance - change filters, oil, etc. regularly, and put in a can of fuel injector cleaner every 5k miles or so. Oh and I guess getting an intake would improve flow for better efficiency in theory, but you'll probably end up hitting the throttle more just to hear the sweet sound.

The cubic inch displacement of an engine is fixed and there is no way the injectors are going to be able to affect that. For one thing, fuel injectors are not within the confines of the cylinders.. they are positioned to operate in the intake runners (usually). So even if you were to have them "go back and forth", they would still have no affect on the displacement.

Actually our TLs get quite good mileage (see my prior post). Please don't take this wrong but there's an old adage in boating. If you have to ask, "what about the fuel comsumption", you probably shouldn't be buying that boat. The same thing could be said about cars.
